Where it came from
The Thanos (Infinity War) Pop! vinyl figure, numbered 289 in the Marvel series, was released by Funko to coincide with the 2018 theatrical debut of Avengers: Infinity War. Designed in the signature Funko aesthetic, this specific version features a distinct yellow chrome finish that deviates from the standard matte coloring, serving as a stylized variant meant to capture the cosmic intensity of the character as he seeks the Infinity Stones.
The figure was produced as part of an expansive merchandising push for the film, reflecting Thanos’s central role as the primary antagonist of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's third phase. While Funko variants are often created to generate collector interest through material changes, this chrome finish was received by the community as a bold visual take on the Mad Titan, emphasizing his imposing stature and gold-plated aesthetic from the movie.
