Where it came from
The Chamberlain Skeksis Pop! figure, numbered 863 in the Pop! Television line, was released to coincide with the 2019 debut of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, a prequel series to the 1982 cult classic film. Produced by Funko, the figure captures the sinister elegance of skekSil, the Chamberlain, a character central to the political machinations of the Skeksis empire as they maintain their grip over the world of Thra.
The design of the figure emphasizes the ornate, grotesque aesthetic of the puppet-based series, translating the character's jagged features, elaborate layered robes, and hunched posture into Funko's signature stylized vinyl form. The figure was received as a nostalgic yet contemporary homage to Jim Henson's creature design, appealing both to long-time fans of the original fantasy masterpiece and to new viewers of the Netflix adaptation.
