Where it came from
The Todd Chavez Funko Pop! figure, numbered 232 in the Animation series, was released as part of a wave dedicated to the Netflix original series BoJack Horseman. Created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg, the show premiered in 2014 and quickly garnered a cult following for its unique blend of cynical satire and surreal anthropomorphic character design. This figure was produced to capitalize on the show's transition from a digital streaming hit to a broader media franchise with significant merchandising appeal.
The design of the figure captures Todd's signature aesthetic, featuring his yellow beanie, green hoodie, and characteristic laid-back posture. Funko's designers aimed to translate the show's distinct 2D animation style into the company's iconic blocky, large-headed format. Upon release, the figure was well-received by fans of the series, who appreciated how accurately the minimalist aesthetic conveyed the lovable, slacker nature of the character, making it a staple for collectors of adult animation memorabilia.
