Tony The Tiger Surfing [Flocked]

Released as part of the Funko Pop! Ad Icons series, this figure reimagines the long-standing Kellogg's mascot, Tony the Tiger, in a beach-themed aesthetic. Originally created in 1952 by Eugene Kolkey, the character of Tony has evolved through various marketing campaigns to embody the energetic, sports-oriented spirit of Frosted Flakes. The Funko design specifically draws from a classic advertising variant where the mascot is depicted as a surfing enthusiast, bridging the gap between breakfast cereal nostalgia and contemporary collectible culture.

The figure features a flocked texture, a specialized finishing process that gives the surface a tactile, velvet-like feel intended to mimic the appearance of fur. Design choices for this line generally prioritize a stylized, chibi-inspired aesthetic that emphasizes the recognizable features of the mascot while maintaining the uniform proportions characteristic of the Pop! brand. Upon its release, it was well-received by collectors who specialize in vintage advertising memorabilia and those looking to curate comprehensive Ad Icons sets.
