Where it came from
The Ultramarines Intercessor, released as number 499 in the Pop! Games series, was produced to commemorate the sprawling Warhammer 40,000 universe created by Games Workshop. Designed to capture the iconic aesthetic of the Adeptus Astartes, the figure represents the Primaris Intercessor, a core infantry unit introduced during the narrative advancement of the Warhammer 40,000 setting. It reflects the collaborative effort between Funko and Games Workshop to broaden the reach of the franchise into the vinyl collectible market.
The design of the figure adheres to Funko’s signature oversized-head silhouette while incorporating the distinct features of the Ultramarines chapter, including the characteristic blue power armor, the gold Aquila insignia on the chest, and the bolter weapon. Upon its release, it was met with interest from both long-time hobbyists and casual fans of the franchise, serving as a simplified, stylized bridge between the complex, hobby-intensive world of tabletop miniature painting and the broader culture of pop-culture figure collecting.
