Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Albums series, this collectible commemorates Usher's third studio album, 8701, which was originally released in 2001. The series is designed to celebrate iconic musical works by encasing a standard-sized Pop! figure of the artist alongside a scaled-down representation of the album's cover art, typically housed within a protective display case.
The 8701 album served as a pivotal moment in Usher's career, marking his transition into a more mature R&B sound and featuring hit singles like U Remind Me and U Got It Bad. Funko's design team utilizes the aesthetic of the original 2001 photography, which features a stark, high-contrast portrait of the artist, to evoke the specific visual branding of that era for long-time fans and music history enthusiasts.
