Where it came from
Val Little was introduced as a central character in the 2021 Disney+ animated series Monsters at Work, which serves as a direct sequel to the 2001 film Monsters, Inc. The character was designed to embody the enthusiastic, albeit often clumsy, spirit of a new generation of monsters working at the power plant, reflecting the show's shift in focus from scarers to comedians. Funko released this Pop figure in 2021 as part of the initial wave of collectibles for the series, capturing her distinctive orange appearance and yellow uniform.
The design of the figure aimed to replicate the friendly and slightly awkward aesthetic of the character, emphasizing her large expressive eyes and yellow hard hat. Like many figures in the Pop! Disney line, it was crafted as a stylized vinyl representation intended to appeal to both animation enthusiasts and long-time collectors of the franchise. Upon release, it was well-received by fans of the series who appreciated the addition of the new Monsters at Work characters to the broader Monsters, Inc. universe of figures.
