Where it came from
The Wednesday Addams Pop! figure, numbered 811 in the Pop! Television line, was released to coincide with the broader merchandising push surrounding the 2022 Netflix series 'Wednesday'. This iteration of the character captures the stylized aesthetic of Jenna Ortega’s portrayal, featuring her signature braided pigtails and the somber, monochromatic school uniform associated with Nevermore Academy. Funko designed this figure to appeal to both long-time fans of the Addams Family franchise and the new demographic of viewers drawn to the show's dark, coming-of-age mystery tone.
The design process for this figure focused on distilling Wednesday’s stoic presence into the iconic Funko silhouette. By emphasizing her deadpan expression and the sharp lines of her attire, the design successfully bridges the gap between classic gothic iconography and contemporary streaming pop culture. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by collectors who sought a tangible piece of the show's record-breaking popularity, quickly becoming a staple for those curating modern television-themed displays.
