Woody Woodpecker (With Mallet)

Woody Woodpecker first appeared in 1940 in the Andy Panda short 'Knock Knock,' created by Ben Hardaway for the Walter Lantz Studio. The character was designed as a chaotic, high-energy foil to traditional cartoons, defined by his distinctive laugh and manic personality. By the time this Funko Pop! figure was released as part of the Animation line in 2017, Woody had long been established as a cornerstone of American animation history, representing a bridge between the Golden Age of theatrical shorts and modern merchandising.

This specific figure, numbered 493, depicts the character wielding his signature mallet, a nod to his early recurring gags involving mischievous destruction. The design team at Funko aimed to capture the character's iconic red crest and wide-eyed expression within the standardized Pop! aesthetic. It was received by collectors as a nostalgic addition to the Animation series, appealing to fans of the original Lantz shorts who sought a stylized representation of the classic bird's most recognizable pose.
