1252 Piece Motorized Basic Set

The Samsonite-14 1252 Piece Motorized Basic Set was produced during the late 1960s, a period when Samsonite held the licensing rights to manufacture and distribute LEGO bricks in the United States. This partnership allowed the company to adapt the Danish toy system for the American market, resulting in sets that often featured unique packaging and specialized component assortments intended to showcase the structural potential of the plastic building bricks.

The design of this specific set reflects the educational and constructive philosophy of the era, focusing on the inclusion of a specialized motor unit that introduced early engineering concepts to children. While the bricks remained consistent with the global LEGO standard, the curation of the 1252-piece set was aimed at providing a comprehensive creative experience. It was received by the market as a high-end constructive toy, bridging the gap between simple block play and the more sophisticated mechanical models that would later become a staple of the product line.
