Arc de Triomphe

The LEGO Architecture Arc de Triomphe, released in 2017 as set 21036, was designed to capture the neoclassical elegance of Jean Chalgrin’s original 1806 monument. Part of the long-running Architecture series, which seeks to interpret iconic global landmarks through a minimalist, sculptural lens, this model utilizes a sophisticated sand-color palette to mimic the limestone of the Parisian original. The design process focused on translating the monument's distinct proportions, including its vaulted arches and ornate friezes, into a compact desk-sized scale that remains recognizable to enthusiasts and casual observers alike.

Upon its release, the set was noted for its use of clever building techniques to replicate the complex geometry of the monument’s pillars and attic story. It was well-received within the architectural model community for its balance of aesthetic detail and structural integrity, serving as a popular entry in a series known for blending educational display value with the tactile satisfaction of construction. The finished piece stands as a tribute to the historical significance of the landmark, which commemorates those who fought and died for France during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.
