Where it came from
The LEGO Architecture Las Vegas set, released in 2018 as part of the Skyline series, was designed to capture the unique, neon-drenched aesthetic of the Las Vegas Strip. It features a curated selection of iconic landmarks, including the Luxor Hotel, the Stratosphere Tower, the Encore at Wynn, and the Fremont Street Experience. The design focus was on verticality and the dense layering of architectural styles that characterize the city, utilizing varied micro-scale building techniques to replicate complex structures like the pyramid of the Luxor and the observation deck of the Stratosphere.
The set experienced a notable production history, as its original 2018 release was abruptly delayed and subsequently revised. The initial version included the Mandalay Bay hotel, but following the October 2017 tragedy in Las Vegas, the LEGO Group opted to modify the design out of respect, replacing that specific building with the Bellagio hotel in the re-released 2018 version. This iteration was generally well-received by collectors for its successful representation of the city's distinct urban profile and its thoughtful navigation of the sensitivity surrounding the subject matter.
