Where it came from
The Armor Case Kit for the Nintendo DSi, themed after Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean, was produced as a third-party accessory during the height of the DSi’s market popularity. These kits were designed to provide physical protection for the handheld console, utilizing a hard-shell construction to prevent scratches and impact damage while capitalizing on the massive cross-media success of the film franchise.
The design aesthetic focused on branded iconography, incorporating imagery intended to appeal to the film's broad demographic. As an officially licensed peripheral, it prioritized utility for portable gaming, featuring cutouts for essential ports and controls. These accessories were generally positioned as affordable, functional solutions for consumers looking to personalize their hardware while ensuring the longevity of their devices during transit.
