Where it came from
The Armor Case Starter Kit for the Nintendo DSi, identified by set number 880011-2, emerged during the peak popularity of the DSi handheld console. Released to address the portability needs of a younger gaming demographic, the kit was designed to provide essential protection and utility for the device. At the time of its release, the aftermarket for console peripherals was highly competitive, with manufacturers focusing on durable, hardshell designs that could withstand the wear of frequent travel and daily play.
The 'Classic Blue' colorway was a deliberate stylistic choice intended to complement the standard blue DSi hardware offered by Nintendo. While the case was mass-produced by third-party peripheral developers, it reflected the utilitarian aesthetic of the era, prioritizing impact resistance through reinforced outer materials. It was generally received as a functional, entry-level accessory, serving as a practical solution for owners who required a simple carry-and-protect bundle without the premium branding of first-party licensed merchandise.
