Where it came from
Released in early 2024 to celebrate the Lunar New Year, the Auspicious Dragon 80112-1 is part of a dedicated seasonal series that honors traditional Chinese culture through brick-built artistry. The set was designed to capture the majesty of the mythical creature, emphasizing dynamic posing capabilities and intricate detailing that reflects its status as a symbol of power and good fortune in the zodiac calendar.
The model features a collaborative design aesthetic typical of the Lunar New Year line, prioritizing display value with a buildable stand and decorative elements like the cloud motif. It was received by collectors as a sophisticated departure from smaller character-based builds, praised for its use of recolored elements and the fluid, organic shape achieved through clever SNOT, or Studs Not On Top, techniques.
