Where it came from
The Australia Postcard (set 40651) was released by the LEGO Group in 2022 as part of a series of collectible micro-scale city postcards. These sets were designed to capture the iconic skyline and architectural spirit of major world destinations in a compact, displayable format. This specific entry, 40651-1, highlights quintessential Australian landmarks including the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, rendered in a stylized, artistic fashion meant to evoke the feeling of a travel souvenir.
The design follows the aesthetic established by the Creator theme, focusing on recognizable silhouettes rather than high-detail recreation. It was developed to cater to adult fans of LEGO who enjoy desk-sized display pieces that serve as mementos of travel. Upon its release, the set was noted for its efficient use of space and color palette, which effectively mimics the dusk or dawn lighting often associated with the Sydney harbor waterfront.
