Backpack – Hippo

The Hippo Backpack, cataloged as part of a miscellaneous set under number 5009576-1, was produced as a lifestyle accessory rather than a traditional construction set. It reflects a design trend in the mid-2010s where character-themed soft goods were utilized to extend the reach of established brands into the daily utility market. The piece was crafted to appeal to younger users, prioritizing a whimsical aesthetic that favored rounded, friendly shapes over strict geometric realism.

While specific information regarding the individual designer is not publicly credited in official company archives, the backpack follows the standard design language of the era's promotional soft goods. It was received primarily as a novelty item intended for school or travel use. Because it belongs to an 'other' category distinct from the core building block systems, it serves as an example of how the brand diversified its catalog through thematic merchandise that maintains brand recognition without requiring assembly.
