Where it came from
The LEGO Backpack Monkey, designated as set 5006495-1, was released in 2021 as a promotional item. It features a brick-built monkey figure designed with a specialized clip element on its back, allowing it to be attached to the straps of a standard backpack or other fabric surfaces. This item belongs to a broader range of lifestyle accessories produced by the LEGO Group, aimed at blending the iconic construction aesthetic with functional, wearable goods.
The design of the monkey draws inspiration from the classic LEGO Minifigure animal aesthetic, characterized by simple, recognizable features and modular construction. It was released to appeal to both younger builders and adult fans looking to personalize their gear with a playful, branded touch. Like many promotional lifestyle sets of this era, its design philosophy prioritized portability and accessibility, serving as a subtle nod to the brand's versatility beyond traditional building sets.
