Where it came from
Released in 2016 as part of the LEGO Star Wars wave tied to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the Battle on Takodana set was designed to recreate the pivotal confrontation at Maz Kanata’s castle. The set serves as a compact diorama, featuring a sliding door, a falling tree, and a wall that collapses to simulate the destruction caused by the First Order's assault. It was created to provide collectors with key minifigures from the film’s first act, including Finn, Rey, Kylo Ren, and two First Order Stormtroopers.
The design emphasizes play features over architectural scale, focusing on modularity that allows the set to be rearranged into different combat configurations. It was received by the community as a functional mid-range set that successfully captured the atmosphere of the Takodana sequence, particularly praised for the inclusion of the then-exclusive Kylo Ren and Rey figures. The set remains a noted entry for its attempt to balance action-oriented building mechanics with the aesthetic of the sequel trilogy's introductory environments.
