Where it came from
The Tatooine Mini Build, released as set FANEXPO2015-1, was produced exclusively for the 2015 Fan Expo Canada convention. As a limited-edition promotional item, it was designed to capture the iconic homestead architecture of Luke Skywalker’s childhood home on Tatooine within a compact, micro-scale footprint. The set utilizes a modest piece count to evoke the desert aesthetic and the distinct domed structures central to the Star Wars visual identity.
The design follows the tradition of LEGO convention exclusives, which prioritize portability and exclusivity for attendees. By focusing on a highly recognizable location from A New Hope, the build emphasizes the nostalgic appeal of the original trilogy. It was well-received by fans as a collectible memento, serving as a distinct example of how the brand uses micro-scale builds to celebrate specific cinematic moments for dedicated community events.
