{Bear}

The Berlin Bear, cataloged under the BERLIN-1 series, emerged as a cultural emblem representing the city of Berlin, Germany. These figures were traditionally produced as souvenir pieces to commemorate the city's heraldic animal, which has appeared on the Berlin coat of arms since the early 13th century. The design typically reflects the aesthetic sensibilities of mid-to-late 20th-century artisanal souvenir crafts, often featuring stylized upright postures and heraldic colors that celebrate the local identity of the German capital.

The broader line of these bears gained international prominence following the reunification of Berlin, as the figure became a central motif in local tourism and public art initiatives. While individual artists have occasionally contributed to specific limited-run editions, most mass-produced versions were designed by commercial studios tasked with capturing a friendly, accessible image of the city. These items were widely received as tokens of civic pride and remain enduring symbols of Berlin's transformation in the post-Wall era.
