Where it came from
The Bear Costume Guy was released in 2019 as part of the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 19. This series was designed to showcase a diverse array of whimsical, standalone characters, continuing the tradition of the theme which began in 2010. The figure serves as a humorous nod to the popular 'mascot in a suit' trope that has become a staple of the line, allowing for imaginative play scenarios that deviate from the more structured licensed themes.
The design of the figure centers on a plush-textured bear suit headpiece rendered in plastic, accompanied by a honey pot accessory. It was created by the LEGO design team to offer a lighthearted contrast to more serious minifigures, emphasizing the playful aesthetic that characterizes the CMF series. Upon its release, it was well-received by collectors for its unique accessory and the high quality of the molded costume piece, which has since become a recurring style for minifigure design.
