Where it came from
The 40400-1 Bird in a Tree set was released by The LEGO Group in 2020 as a promotional item, typically available through official LEGO retail channels. It belongs to a category of smaller, thematic promotional sets that emphasize sculptural aesthetics and nature-inspired designs, moving away from traditional minifigure-scale play to focus on display-oriented builds.
The design utilizes a minimalist approach, employing a limited selection of brick-built elements to represent organic forms. By centering on a stylized bird perched upon a branch, the set reflects the brand's ongoing exploration of avian and botanical themes, which have become a hallmark of their lifestyle-oriented collections aimed at both younger builders and adult fans of LEGO.
