Where it came from
Blocks magazine was launched in 2015 as an independent publication dedicated to the hobby of LEGO building. Issue 17 was released during a period when the magazine was establishing its identity as a comprehensive resource for adult fans, focusing on community spotlights, build techniques, and retrospective deep dives into retired sets. It was designed to fill a niche for high-quality, long-form journalism that went beyond simple product reviews, appealing specifically to the growing demographic of adult collectors.
The design of the magazine emphasizes professional photography and clean layouts, aiming to elevate the hobby to an art form rather than just toy documentation. Issue 17 maintains this editorial standard, featuring a mix of investigative reporting on the manufacturing process and curated showcases of fan-made models. Upon its release, the publication was well-received within the hobbyist community for its commitment to print media in an increasingly digital landscape, serving as a permanent record of the ever-evolving LEGO ecosystem.
