Where it came from
Blocks magazine began as an independent, unofficial monthly publication dedicated to the LEGO hobbyist community, providing news, reviews, and building techniques. Issue 40, released in 2017, serves as a representative example of the magazine's commitment to independent journalism and community engagement, offering readers an in-depth look at new set releases and fan-created builds that often go overlooked in official promotional materials.
The design of the publication focuses on high-quality photography and layout, prioritizing visual storytelling to appeal to adult fans of LEGO. The magazine was established to fill a niche for high-fidelity content that balances technical insight with editorial flair, a strategy that helped it build a loyal international following. Its reception has been largely positive among the AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO) community, as it provides a curated alternative to the company's own marketing channels.
