Where it came from
Blocks magazine issue 39 was released in early 2017 as part of an independent monthly publication dedicated to the LEGO hobby. Published by Blocks Media Ltd, the magazine was established to provide adult fans of LEGO with news, reviews, and build techniques that went beyond the scope of official corporate marketing, positioning itself as a vital resource for the AFOL community during a period of rapid growth in adult-targeted building sets.
The design of issue 39 centers on the evolving landscape of LEGO collecting, featuring editorial content that highlights both modern licensed sets and historical analysis. The magazine utilized a clean, professional aesthetic, heavily reliant on high-fidelity photography and in-depth interviews with designers and community creators. Upon its release, it was well-received by enthusiasts for its journalistic approach to the brand, helping to legitimize the hobby as a subject of serious cultural interest.
