Where it came from
Blocks magazine issue 44, released in the summer of 2018, serves as an independent publication dedicated to the LEGO hobbyist community. Established to provide in-depth analysis, building techniques, and news beyond what official corporate channels offer, this specific issue features extensive coverage of the LEGO Technic line, notably coinciding with the release of the complex Bugatti Chiron set. The editorial direction focuses on bridging the gap between casual play and technical engineering, offering readers a deep dive into the development processes of large-scale models.
The design aesthetic of the publication adheres to a clean, lifestyle-oriented magazine layout, prioritizing high-quality photography and detailed interviews with set designers. By providing a platform for adult fans of LEGO, the magazine aims to document the evolution of the brand's design language, with issue 44 highlighting the mechanical sophistication of 21st-century sets. Reception within the AFOL community has been largely positive, with readers often valuing the magazine for its archival role in preserving the history of specific, high-profile collaborations and internal design stories.
