Where it came from
Blocks magazine issue 45 was published in mid-2018 as an independent monthly publication dedicated to the hobby of building with plastic construction bricks. Created to serve the adult fan of LEGO community, the magazine sought to provide a bridge between the manufacturer’s official messaging and the wider creative discourse found in online forums and fan conventions. This specific issue served as part of the ongoing mission to offer editorial depth, featuring interviews with designers and showcases of complex fan-built creations.
The design ethos of Blocks magazine prioritizes clean, high-quality photography and structured journalism that reflects the aesthetic precision of the bricks themselves. Issue 45 followed this established format, which was designed to position the magazine as a premium coffee-table resource. Upon its release, it was received as a stable, long-running alternative to the brand's own marketing materials, praised for its focus on the artistry and engineering challenges inherent in modular building.
