Where it came from
Blocks magazine issue 77 was released in early 2021 as a dedicated celebration of the LEGO Star Wars theme, coinciding with the broader cultural interest in the franchise's enduring building sets. The magazine functions as an independent monthly publication for adult fans of LEGO, providing editorial coverage, build techniques, and industry news that distinguishes it from official promotional materials. This specific issue sought to provide a deep dive into the evolution of Star Wars-themed brick construction, appealing to collectors interested in the intersection of cinematic history and plastic model kits.
The editorial direction for this issue leaned into the technical aspects of set design, featuring interviews and retrospectives that highlighted the creative challenges faced by LEGO designers when translating space-faring vessels into manageable brick configurations. The publication maintained its hallmark aesthetic, utilizing high-quality photography and in-depth analytical writing. Upon its release, it was well-received by the enthusiast community for its commitment to documenting the specific nuances of the Star Wars product line, cementing its status as a recurring reference point for builders and completionists alike.
