Where it came from
Blocks magazine issue 81 was published in early 2021 as part of an independent monthly publication dedicated to the Lego hobby. The magazine serves as a resource for adult fans of Lego, providing news, reviews, and community-focused interviews. This specific issue is notable for its feature on the expansion of the Lego Star Wars helmet collection, exploring how the design team balanced technical building techniques with the aesthetic constraints of iconic science fiction headgear.
The editorial direction of this issue sought to bridge the gap between casual builders and serious collectors by offering deep-dive features into set development. Like many issues in this run, the layout was designed to emphasize high-quality photography and behind-the-scenes insights. It was received as a staple publication within the enthusiast community for its commitment to documenting the evolution of set design and the changing landscape of the Lego brand during the early 2020s.
