Where it came from
The 1913-1 Boat was released in 1974 as one of the earliest sets in the broader Legoland theme, representing a foundational period for the brand. During this era, the company was transitioning toward the modern system of play, focusing on small, accessible models that invited children to build basic structures alongside their existing bricks.
The design is characteristic of mid-1970s aesthetic choices, favoring simple, functional geometry over intricate detail. It reflects a minimalist design philosophy where primary colors and basic brick configurations were used to foster imaginative play, serving as a functional vessel within the company's fledgling nautical-themed sets before the introduction of specialized hull pieces became the industry standard.
