Where it came from
The Brachiosaurus Discovery set (76960-1) was released in 2023 as part of a commemorative wave marking the 30th anniversary of the original Jurassic Park film. Designed to capture the iconic moment when Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Dr. Ian Malcolm first encounter a living dinosaur, the set serves as a tribute to one of cinema's most recognizable sequences. It features the first-ever LEGO Brachiosaurus figure, a significant milestone for fans of the franchise who had waited years for this specific creature to be realized in brick form.
The set was conceived as a display-focused build that includes a detailed Jeep Wrangler and a depiction of the Isla Nublar environment. The design team focused on scaling the dinosaur to provide an imposing presence relative to the included minifigures, emphasizing the sense of awe depicted in the 1993 film. Upon its release, the set was well-received by collectors and Jurassic Park enthusiasts, particularly for the anatomical accuracy of the Brachiosaurus mold and its inclusion of key characters from the film's opening act.
