Where it came from
BrickJournal is a long-running magazine dedicated to the adult fan of LEGO hobby, first published in 2005. Issue 57, released in 2019, focused on the intersection of building and public transportation, exploring how enthusiasts incorporate city transit, trains, and infrastructure into their elaborate dioramas. The publication was founded by Joe Meno, who sought to provide a professional platform for the evolving AFOL community, highlighting techniques and custom creations that transcend standard set building.
The design and editorial direction of BrickJournal lean toward a clean, informative aesthetic that emphasizes high-quality photography of custom models. Each issue is curated to bridge the gap between casual builders and advanced designers, featuring interviews with prominent community figures and instructional guides. Issue 57 is regarded by collectors as a technical resource, reflecting the magazine's ongoing commitment to documenting the creative output and design philosophies of the global brick-building community.
