Where it came from
BrickJournal issue 8 was published in 2007 during the magazine's early period as an independent publication focused on the adult fan of LEGO community. Edited and founded by Joe Meno, the magazine was established to provide a dedicated space for adult builders to showcase their MOCs, or 'My Own Creations,' and discuss building techniques that moved beyond standard set instructions.
The design and editorial direction were spearheaded by Meno, who sought to formalize the hobby by interviewing high-profile community builders and highlighting innovative construction methods. By issue 8, the publication had begun to solidify its role as the primary chronicle of the hobby's evolution, receiving praise for bridging the gap between casual builders and the complex, artistic projects emerging within the growing online enthusiast forums of the era.
