Where it came from
Released in 2024 as part of the LEGO Friends theme, the Candy & Cupcake Ferris Wheel (42700-1) was designed to expand the whimsical, amusement-park-inspired sub-theme of the long-running toy line. The set emphasizes imaginative roleplay through its bright, pastel-colored aesthetic, which aligns with the refreshed character roster and modern design language introduced to the Friends series to promote themes of friendship and inclusive storytelling.
The design focuses on a rotating Ferris wheel mechanism equipped with candy-themed seating, accompanied by functional stalls that allow for interactive play. Like other sets in the collection, the creation process by the LEGO design team aimed to balance structural stability with a high degree of visual playfulness, resulting in a product that remains popular with younger builders for its recognizable geometry and vibrant color palette.
