Car with Camper

The 6694 Car with Camper, released in 1984 under the Lego Legoland banner, was part of a broader push to expand the scale and narrative potential of the classic Town theme. Designed during an era when Lego sought to offer more versatile, leisure-oriented vehicles, this set provided a compact solution for the growing suburban layout of the period. It followed the established design language of early 1980s Lego vehicles, characterized by simple, functional chassis builds and the iconic primary color palette that defined the aesthetic of the decade.

The set was illustrated and marketed to highlight the modularity of the camper attachment, reflecting a design focus on playability rather than intricate realism. By allowing the camper to be detached from the car, the designers aimed to encourage children to incorporate the vehicle into various camping or travel scenarios within their own city creations. Upon release, it was well-received by the target audience for its utility and the inclusion of a single minifigure, which was standard for small-scale vehicle sets of that timeframe, securing its place as a quintessential example of mid-80s recreational Lego design.
