Where it came from
Released as part of the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes theme, the Carnage figure (set 242216-1) serves as a faithful adaptation of the iconic Marvel Comics supervillain. The character, created by writer David Michelinie and artist Mark Bagley, first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #361 in 1992. As the symbiotic offspring of Venom, Carnage is characterized by his chaotic, homicidal nature and his signature crimson, tendril-like appearance, which LEGO designers sought to capture through specialized printing and molded elements.
This specific figure reflects the broader LEGO strategy of producing accessible, highly detailed minifigures for popular comic book properties. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans for its intricate torso and head printing, which accurately replicates the character's jagged symbiote patterns. It stands as a staple of the Marvel collection, highlighting the company's commitment to translating complex comic book aesthetics into the scaled constraints of the minifigure medium.
