Where it came from
Castle in the Forest, designated as set 910001-1, was released in 2021 as part of the initial wave of the BrickLink Designer Program. This initiative was designed to give fans a chance to realize high-quality, community-submitted concepts that had previously reached the 10,000-vote threshold on LEGO Ideas but were not selected for mass-market production. By crowdfunding these sets, BrickLink provided a platform for these complex, modular designs to reach enthusiasts in limited quantities.
The set was designed by the builder known as povoq, who aimed to create a detailed, medieval-themed fortress that captured a sense of architectural history and natural integration. The design is noted for its textured rockwork, foliage-covered walls, and a layout that allows for modular expansion. Upon its release, it was well-received by the adult fan community for its intricate build techniques and aesthetic commitment to the classic fantasy castle style, marking a significant entry in the program's debut.
