Where it came from
The LEGO Christmas Tree, set 40024, was released in 2011 as a seasonal promotional item. It was designed to capture the classic aesthetic of a holiday fir, utilizing a stackable cone-based construction technique that allows for a tiered, evergreen appearance. The set was intended to serve as a small, festive display piece, reflecting the company’s long-standing tradition of offering holiday-themed builds during the final quarter of the year.
The design emphasizes simplicity and accessibility, relying on a palette of green slopes and translucent plates to represent ornaments. It was marketed primarily as a polybag set, making it an affordable stocking stuffer or promotional gift at retail stores. Upon its release, it was well received by the community for its efficient use of parts to achieve a recognizable silhouette, cementing its place as a staple of the seasonal LEGO collection.
