Where it came from
The LEGO Chrysanthemum (10368-1) is part of the LEGO Botanical Collection, a series launched in 2021 to cater to adult builders by providing decorative, plant-based sets. Released in 2024, the chrysanthemum was designed to capture the delicate, layered aesthetic of the flower, which holds significant cultural importance in East Asia as a symbol of autumn and longevity. The set was engineered to provide a sophisticated building experience, focusing on the articulation of the petals and leaves to create a display-worthy piece that mirrors the elegance of traditional floral arrangements.
The design process for this set prioritized a balance between functional interlocking geometry and naturalistic form. By utilizing a mix of standard and specialized elements, the designers aimed to replicate the dense, radial structure of the chrysanthemum bloom. Like other entries in the Icons theme, the set was received as a bridge between hobbyist model-building and home decor, appealing to those who appreciate the meditative process of assembly and the resulting permanent botanical display.
