Where it came from
Constable Clarke, set number 3789-1, was released by LEGO in 1999 as part of the short-lived Adventurers series, specifically within the Jungle subtheme. This line was designed to capture a sense of exploration and pulp-style mystery, placing figures in exotic, fictionalized environments. The set itself is a small blister-pack style polybag, typical of the late 1990s, intended as an affordable entry point for children to expand their collection of explorers and antagonists.
The character design reflects the transition period of LEGO minifigures, featuring the classic smiling face print before the introduction of more varied facial expressions. As a member of the 'Adventurers' cast, Constable Clarke was portrayed as a local authority figure in the jungle setting. While not as iconic as the lead protagonist Johnny Thunder, the figure is noted by collectors for its specific accessory—a distinct pith helmet—which has since become a sought-after piece for custom builders.
