Where it came from
The Constitution Train Chase, set 79111-1, was released in 2013 as part of a tie-in line for the Walt Disney Pictures film The Lone Ranger. Designed to capture the climactic locomotive sequence of the movie, the set features a detailed steam engine, a coal tender, and a flatbed carriage, reflecting the aesthetic of the American Old West. It was aimed at both fans of the franchise and collectors of large-scale LEGO train sets, utilizing complex build techniques to replicate the rugged machinery of 19th-century rail transport.
The design was led by the LEGO Group's licensed product team, who focused on integrating action-oriented play features, such as a collapsing water tower and a firing cannon, into the rolling stock. While the film received mixed critical reviews, the set itself was noted by enthusiasts for its unique color palette and the inclusion of several exclusive minifigures. It remains a representative example of the brand's approach to cinematic cross-promotion during the early 2010s.
