Where it came from
The LEGO set 7517-1, marketed as 'Cool Room Décor', was released in 2005 as part of the LEGO Clickits product line. Clickits were designed as a jewelry and room customization system aimed primarily at young girls, allowing them to snap small, patterned plastic tiles onto wearable accessories or decorative frames. The line represented a shift for the LEGO Group into the fashion and lifestyle accessory market during the mid-2000s.
The aesthetic of this set featured bold colors and modular components that reflected the early 2000s trend of highly customizable, personalized craft kits. While the Clickits line was intended to diversify the company's offerings beyond traditional building bricks, it eventually saw limited longevity. The sets were primarily received as a foray into creative design play, though they were ultimately discontinued as the company refocused on its core interlocking brick system.
