Where it came from
Released in 2024 as part of the Lego Star Wars 25th anniversary collection, this set depicts the Scimitar, the personal starship of Darth Maul. The vessel first appeared in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, where it served as a stealthy transport for the Sith Lord during his pursuit of Qui-Gon Jinn and Queen Padmé Amidala on Tatooine. The Lego design aims to modernize the craft, incorporating features such as retractable landing gear, folding wings, and a cockpit designed for the inclusion of the Darth Maul minifigure.
The set was produced to commemorate the 25th anniversary of both the Lego Star Wars partnership and the release of The Phantom Menace. Designers focused on balancing the compact, aggressive silhouette of the Infiltrator with functional play elements like integrated stud shooters and a deployment mechanism for the included Sith Speeder. It was received by the community as a focused, mid-scale entry that prioritizes authentic character inclusions and recognizable vessel geometry, fitting into the lineage of previous iterations while utilizing contemporary building techniques.
