Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator

Released in 2011 as part of the Lego Star Wars theme, set 7961 was designed to coincide with the 3D theatrical re-release of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. It serves as the third iteration of Darth Maul's Scimitar in Lego form, featuring a significantly updated design compared to its 1999 and 2007 predecessors. The set was engineered to capture the vessel's unique angular geometry while integrating play features such as retractable landing gear, folding wings, and a specialized interior compartment for the Sith probe droids.

The design team focused on refining the sleek, menacing aesthetic of the film's original model, which was famously inspired by the architecture of a bird of prey. Upon its release, the set was noted for its inclusion of four minifigures—Darth Maul, Qui-Gon Jinn, Padmé Amidala, and Captain Panaka—providing a comprehensive representation of the film's key characters. It remains a notable example of mid-era Lego Star Wars design, prioritizing a balance between display accuracy and the mechanical functionality expected of a play-oriented set.
