Darth Vader's Castle

Darth Vader’s Castle, released under the LEGO Star Wars theme in 2018, draws inspiration from the fortress on Mustafar as depicted in the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The set was designed to capture the imposing, obsidian-like aesthetic of the location, emphasizing the dark, jagged architecture that serves as Vader’s personal sanctuary. By incorporating a subterranean bacta tank and a TIE Advanced fighter, the design team aimed to balance display-focused structural detail with interactive play features that reflect the character's brooding environment.

The model was received as a significant addition to the Star Wars product line, primarily for its unique architectural silhouette and the inclusion of exclusive minifigures, including two versions of Darth Vader and the Imperial Transport Pilot. Fans and critics generally praised the set for its unconventional shape, which deviated from the standard ship-based builds typical of the theme. While the exterior focuses on the basalt-like texture and monolithic presence of the structure, the interior was organized into tiered sections to represent the various functions of the Sith Lord’s home.
