Where it came from
Released in 2015 as part of the Lego City sub-theme centered on construction and demolition, this set was designed to capture the dynamic action of urban infrastructure work. It reflects the broader Lego City design philosophy of the mid-2010s, which emphasized interactive play features—such as a functional wrecking ball and a modular building structure—to simulate a realistic construction environment for children.
The set was developed by the Lego design team in Billund to provide a comprehensive play experience by including multiple vehicles, such as a crane, a truck, and a backhoe, alongside a team of construction minifigures. Like most sets in the City line, it was received as a standard, reliable offering that prioritized playability and mechanical movement over the intricate display-focused techniques seen in adult-oriented themes.
