Where it came from
The 7236-2 Police Car was released in 2005 as part of the LEGO City theme, which revitalized the brand’s focus on modern urban infrastructure and service vehicles. Designed as a straightforward, accessible entry point for builders, the set captures the classic aesthetic of mid-2000s police cruisers, utilizing a streamlined chassis and standard minifigure scale. It served as a functional component of the broader City layout, meant to complement the larger stations and patrol units of that era.
The design emphasizes playability and the iconic black-and-white color scheme associated with law enforcement. By focusing on essential elements like the light bar and the space for a single officer, the designers prioritized recognizable features over complex construction techniques. Upon its release, it was received as a reliable addition to the City collection, valued for its ability to integrate seamlessly into existing dioramas while offering an affordable way for fans to expand their emergency response teams.
