Where it came from
The LEGO Dinosaur set 40247-1 was released in 2017 as a seasonal promotional item, designed as a polybag build. It fits into the broader category of small-scale creature models that allow enthusiasts to construct a recognizable animal figure using a limited number of elements. These sets were frequently distributed through LEGO brand stores and official online shops as incentives for qualifying purchases during specific promotional windows.
The design of this model focuses on a simplified, stylized representation of a theropod dinosaur, emphasizing poseability and efficient part usage. By utilizing a common color palette of green and dark grey, the designers prioritized accessibility and ease of assembly for younger builders. The set reflects the brand's long-standing tradition of offering small, affordable kits that serve as accessible entry points for casual collectors and those interested in building specialized creature designs.
