Where it came from
Released in 1999 as part of the LEGO City theme, the Doctor and Patient set, numbered 952105-1, belongs to a series of promotional polybags often distributed through retail partnerships or as small impulse-buy items. These sets were designed to expand the playability of the broader LEGO Town and City hospital sub-themes, providing children with essential service-oriented minifigures to populate their brick-built urban environments.
The design of the set focuses on classic LEGO iconography, featuring a medical professional in a lab coat and a patient with a bandaged head accessory. By prioritizing simple, role-play-centric elements, the designers aimed to reinforce the narrative of community services within the City line. While these promotional polybags were modest in scale compared to major hospital sets, they were well-regarded by collectors for their accessibility and their ability to provide high-utility characters for hospital dioramas.
